Memorial Day Weekend

MYSTERY BUS TRIP

May 2002 POEM

Judy Scherrer

Awake at 5:30
Seemed kind of early
Got out of bed
Fixed the hair on my head

Was already packed
So got ready to go
Got in the car
And traveled a far.

Met at the lot
At a 7 a quarter
To get on the bus
Like I knew we had oughta.

Going north on 55
Gas prices were very high.
Should we go back to the horse?
Some say, Of course!

Riding on the Cavallo coach
Cavallo meaning horse
I'd rather live today
Than ride a wagon filled with hay.

Destination Chicago
What a great place.
Danced with Fox Valley
And wasn't it great!

Continued on Sunday
Eating all that we could.
No one could blame us
With all the great food.

Dancing with the Ocean Waves
Was all that we imagined
Wish we could have stayed and stayed
Cause it seemed like magic.

We stayed at the Ramada Inn
And continued our endeavors.
We roasted Doug; he took it well
And the skits were great as ever.

Chicago, Chicago
That's the song we sing
Where else besides the Navy Pier could I buy a beautiful six dollar ring!
